This is something new for me. It is in the beginning stages but I already like the feel of it. This is for a friend of mine who thought about buying an angel poster to put in his daughter’s room when I said “I’ll paint you one” instead without thinking that I have never painted angels before. There is a challenge here to get the softness and flow without using too much paint that will weigh the wings down. I also don’t want to do the typical flowing robes with hundreds and hundreds of folds, rather I am looking for a shape held within luminosity… something soft and flowing but not so clearly defined… we’ll see how it turns out.

This is for Martha, Aleko and Maria’s daughter. I like what happened in this painting… the forms, colors and luminosity of the angels. The composition works nicely as well and I am pleased with the balance of lights and darks. Overall a joy to paint.

This painting is more of an expression of who I am right now than any other painting I have done so far. I’m not sure what it is about this one that makes my spirit sing every time I look at it…

The colors… there is Greece here… there is Spring… there is a sunrise or sunset depending on my mood.. there is motherhood… there is the child…. there is femininity and there is depth and continuity.

I hope you enjoy this one too….

This one was fun! I painted it out on the Aegean Balcony while chatting with some of our renters. Yanni, who has a wonderful bookstore in Perea, Thessaloniki, wanted to see a white stripe on the boat. I gladly indulged and liked the outcome too. I am not used to painting with people around watching me, but I found I had no trouble at all. We had such a wonderful group of people here and I loved the diverse conversations that took place… thanks to all.

The waves were so much fun to paint…. working only with a painting knife is challenging but on the other hand, rather than worrying about endless detail, the knife frees the hand and captures the energy of what’s being painted….
